There is a great hiking trail near Peanut Lake called the Trail Riders Trail, and after a long day outdoors Elk Mountain Lodge is a pleasant spot to spend a night or two. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Peanut Lake. Summer night lows descend down to the 40's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Peanut Lake. Not far from Peanut Lake, you'll find Nicholson Lake which is a charming
lake. Lake Brennand Dam is worth visiting if you're here, and a splendid place for whitewater paddling is Oh Be Joyful Creek.
If only every place had this much outdoors entertaining stuff, what a great world it would be. Going for a hike on the Lowline Trail is always a tremendous adventure, and the snow is pleasant at Aspen Highlands. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Crested Butte Mountain Resort is a nice spot to camp; there

are other places here than Peanut Lake, for example Meridian Lake Park Reservoir Number 1. Avery Peak Campground is a delightful local campground; a quick journey to Coal Creek is certainly a great idea.
If you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on East River, and why not head up to Irwin Lodge and strap some skis to your feet. Peanut Lake is pretty waterless ordinarily; during August this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is February. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Granite Basin Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Elevation Hotel & Spa.

Lost Lake Campground
14 miles away
I just camped at Lost Lake 2 weeks ago! It is so beautiful and serene they were holding a wedding there 2 days after we left. With only 10 campsites, it is quiet and ideal for families or couples. A beautiful view of Lost Lake Slough and of the mountains in the background greeted us in the morning. The full moon rising over the crest of the mountain was a real treat the first night we got there. There is a 3 mile hike within walking distance on which we saw beautiful wildflowers, 2 waterfalls, and 3 lakes. ENJOY!...

Excellent white-water kayaking on the Crystal River, for the experienced expert only.  Coors Falls at Lead King Basin is a top scale challenge, as is the 2-mile river course from the Crystal Mill.  Somewhat milder is the Crystal River from Marble to Redstone.  Beyond Redstone gets a little hairy...
