If you are in Montrose county it's always a good idea to stop by Paxton Reservoir. Paxton Reservoir is one of the lakes here in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Paradox Road; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend San Miguel River. During the warm days of summer here at Paxton Reservoir, high temperatures generally reach the 90's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 50's.

| | During the wintertime highs are regularly in the 30's with temperatures at Paxton Reservoir dipping down into the 10's through winter nights.
You simply have to like the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Paxton Dam has good water scenery and it's in close proximity to Paxton Reservoir, and if you need a place to stay Quality Inn & Suites is a good choice. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Paxton Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at The Hanging | |

Tree RV Park, and there are plenty of folks from Montrose here. Very delightful scenery and nice skiing is what you get at Telluride. There's so much to do here at Paxton Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Hangin Tree
RV is a glorious place for that.
Man, is there a load of exciting things to do in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Paxton Reservoir is right by the Spring Creek Trail; Canyon Trails Inn is a delightful spot to get some rest.
It is very waterless here at Paxton Reservoir ordinarily; July is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is June.
This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Dry Creek Trail is magnificent fun, and don't leave
Paxton Reservoir without first paying a visit to Johnson Spring. Just can't get enough of Paxton Reservoir. There are some magnificent whitewater spots on Uncompahgre River; lakes are such serene sites, why not stop by Horse Pasture Reservoir.
