 | The campground extends all the way down to the main bottom lake and there are Great ,established sites on both sides of the bottom lake, NOT IN MY BACK YARD.... |
Twin Lake Reservoir
 | 1 PHOTO The lake was very low on 6/29/08. Not sure when they let all the water out but if it was before this last winter we had... I bet it froze solid. We both fished for a while and did not see and sign of life while we were there.... |
Worster Reservoir
 | 14 miles away Marlene. I spent several years in Laramie in the 70's and also never was aquainted with Worster Reservoir... However my interest in families was sparked when I heard the name Appleton Collins Worster who is in my family tree.
...It's named after my grandfather Appleton Collins Worster, he came here from Maine when he was young. My father and uncles grew up in the house that is on Sand Creek road, not far from reservoir....I have never heard of Worster Reservoir, please let me know where it is located.... |
Ypsilon Lake
 | 17 miles away It's true. This lake is incredible for fishing probably because it is little fished. Beetle Spins not so good for us but Rooster Tails and Yo-Zuri Pin's minnow 2'' Rainbow Trout colored did the trick. Four of us went here July '09. The hike was long but worth it. Accompanied by a late morning start, it rained off and on so we didn't get to fish as much as we wanted plus the altitude got to one of us pretty badly. We're lowlanders from the South. A couple of extra-strength Tylenol, he was up and around in an hour or so. Next time we'll camp at Upper Chipmunk and each eat our fill of Trout each day. Awesome adventure!... |
Greyrock Trail
 | 18 miles away I hiked Grey Rock on July 3rd and contracted poison ivy. Great hike, but beware and buy some Zanfel first!...Another great story describing the wounders of the Rocky Mountains. As a life serious rock climber I truly respect the story of a beautiful hike. Thank you, enjoy many more family adventures. Don't rush up the mountains and be thankful for the lush mountains we call the Rocky Mountains....I climb to the Grey Rock Summit every summer. We went this 4th of July weekend. We left the parking lot late afternoon and got to the summit with enough time to hike the boulders to the top after putting up the tent. The 4 of us watched the sunset. I had a headlamp, but didn't need it. There was an almost full moon lighting up the canyon. My daughter & I slept in the parachute hammocks and watched the moon cross the sky. I enjoyed a good sunrise too. The trail leading to the lake was marked with rock piles that even I found it! I walked in up to my knees and soaked my bathing suit in the clear water. The others walked across the lake and climbed the rocks to the top on the West side. So refreshing. Nice family holiday. We were also celebrating my daughters 19th birthday.... |
Long Draw Reservoir
 | 19 miles away A very nice place to go camping, hiking and fishing. The reservoir has an astonishing breathtaking view, nothing like I have ever seen before, yes that beautiful! We went the weekend of July 10th, 2009 the weather during the day is very nice and sunny avg. temp about 75 degrees, the nights however are very cold, dipping into the low 40's and 30's, so be prepared for that, we came with too little of blankets and learned that to be a big mistake. Long draw is located about 15 mi. inland from Hwy 14 just past Chambers, driving into the reservoir looks deceitful because it seems as though you are traveling into the thick of the forest with nothing but trees around, but be patient 15 mi. in you will discover the camp ground, enjoy!... |

Our resort has an outdoor heated pool and hot tub, 18 hole mini-golf course and gift shop. The historic lodge was built in 1919 at Bear Lake in the National Park and later moved piece by piece to its present location. In 1965 it was the site for TV westerns such as Bonanza and The Virginian. The outside grill was built by Hoss Cartwright (Dan Blocker) to feed crewmembers and it still exists. In the Lodge stands 1/2 of the mahogany bar from the Windsor Hotel in Denver.
