You might want to pay a visit to Dark Canyon since you're here at Paonia Reservoir; why not take a little visit to Anthracite Creek while you're here. All through the summer months at Paonia Reservoir       highs are generally in the 70's while night lows are ordinarily in the 40's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 30's while Paonia Reservoir nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the-10's. After a long day outdoors Sunlight Mountain Inn is a great place to spend a night or two. If you come at the right time of year, Gunnison River - North Fork offers some great whitewater; if the weather is splendid, you can go for                  a hike along the Hammond Trail. Paonia Reservoir is pretty arid frequently; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain; February meanwhile is the driest month. Going for a hike along the Sunset Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and Paonia Dam is not far at all from Paonia Reservoir. What a location this is for outdoors people.
