This place, Overland Reservoir, it just has so much outdoors entertaining stuff. Crater Lake is a magnificent lake in the neighborhood of Overland Reservoir, and don't leave Overland Reservoir without first going for a hike along the High Trail. If you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Gunnison River - North Fork, and Elk Park is a brilliant place to stretch your legs a bit. This lake is so       wonderful. One of the overriding features of the surroundings of Overland Reservoir is Chalk Mountain, and a nice close by hotel is Howard Johnson Express - Cedaredge. Why not camp at Buzzard Campground while you're here at Overland Reservoir, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Crater Creek. Lakes are such peaceful sites, why not go to Goodenough Reservoir in the vicinity of Overland Reservoir, and going for a hike on the Elk Park Trail is always                  a magnificent adventure. Summertime highs at Overland Reservoir typically tend to be in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's while Overland Reservoir night low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 0's. Overland Reservoir gets very little precipitation; through the month of March you get the most rain around here; the driest of the months is June. This lake is so wonderful.
