     If you come at the right time of year, Cimarron River offers some good whitewater; obviously, this is a brilliant region for people who like lakes, Buckhorn Lake Number 1 is a lake close at hand. There's so much to do here at Onion Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Big Cimarron Campground is a fine place for that, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Deer Creek Trail. During the warmest time of the year, highs generally are in the 80's at  
   Onion Lakes while overnight lows are generally in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Onion Lakes. If you need a place to stay Ouray Chalet Inn is a perfect choice, and you're in all probability addicted to lakes, Buckhorn Lake Number 2 is one of those nearby.
And if that's not sufficient, there's loads more to do close to Onion Lakes. If you came to camp Beaver Lake
 
               Campground is a splendid place to do that; get yourself into a kayak and hit Cimarron River. Hiking along the Courthouse Trail is tremendous fun, and on a delightful day you acquire a magnificent vista of Storm King from Onion Lakes. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Quality Inn & Suites; some exciting geology is available here, Castle Rock is right here.
This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Lou Creek Trail. Around Onion Lakes you don’t get a lot of precipitation; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is February.
