     The San Juan and Jemez Mountains scenery is always beautiful. If you want a splendid time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Oliver Lakes. Canyon Creek is a good whitewater spot near Oliver Lakes, and if the weather is splendid, you can go for a hike along the Whitehead Trail. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Oliver Lakes; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's, and after the  
   sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Oliver Lakes drop into the 0's.
You can run the rapids of Vallecito Creek in close proximity to Oliver Lakes; you can hit the slopes at Kendall Mountain close at hand. All the outdoors amusing stuff in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains will keep you coming back repeatedly. A wonderful close by hotel is Lodge at Tamarron; Missouri Gulch is a fine place to take a look at. This lake is so wonderful. There's
 
               so much to do here at Oliver Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Transfer Park Campground is a great place for that; the Deer Park Trail is a wonderful hiking trail close by.
You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing things at Oliver Lakes. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Oliver Lakes, you'll discover City Reservoir which is a picturesque lake, and Silverton has good slopes and a friendly staff. You're sure to run into some cheerful folks from Durango here, and if you came to camp Florida Campground is a glorious place to do that.
Places like Lower Park are pleasant to visit, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always take a look at nearby Durango Reservoir Number 1. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. After a long day outdoors Purgatory Village Condominium Hotel is a glorious spot to spend a night or two; nearby you discover the Highline Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. Oliver Lakes gets very little precipitation; August is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is June.
