What a nice lake Nottingham Reservoir is. Just can't get enough of the Park Range. Take a hike on the Rock Creek Trail; you'll meet a lot of folks from Edwards here. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Piney Crossing Campground since you're here at Nottingham Reservoir, and in the event that you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cross Creek. If you feel like a little side spree, try Eagle Valley, and if you
need a site to stay The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa, Avon is a good choice.
This lake is so wonderful. Have a nice hiking adventure along the Lost Lake Trail; dry warm beds await you at The Christie Lodge. Nottingham Reservoir is pretty dried up mostly; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February. Nottingham Reservoir is a beautiful lake in the Park Range.
Now, you may believe that's a heap but there's

even more fun stuff to do here in the Park Range. Nottingham Dam is an exciting thing to check out, and don't forget to take a fine little visit to Stone Creek. Summertime highs at Nottingham Reservoir usually tend to be in the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and night lows in the 0's for Nottingham Reservoir.
If you want a fine time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Nottingham Reservoir. If you're a golfer then a splendid nearby course is Eagle-Vail Golf Course; probably you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Benchmark Lake Reservoir is just a very short distance away. And if that's not sufficient there's lots more entertaining things to do in the Park Range. Eagle River is a pleasant whitewater spot in the vicinity of Nottingham Reservoir, and you're probably into lakes, Waterdog Lake is one of those close by. Nottingham Reservoir is right by the Nottingham Ridge Trail; a day on the slopes of Beaver Creek is just what you need.
Be careful coming to Nottingham Reservoir, you might not ever want to go back home again. Learning Camp is a magnificent local campground, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Vail is reasonably near.

At the gate you leave the world behind. Nestled at the feet of North America's World Cup mountain, Beaver Creek is a custom-designed resort with the safe, unhurried feel of an Alpine hamlet. From the skating rink in the village square to chocolate-chip cookies served fresh from the oven each afternoon at the lifts, and from the ''Ivy League ski school'' to the world-famous performing arts center, this is perhaps the very best of luxury family skiing. And there is a mountain of prestigious awards for food, wine, and customer service to prove it....

Upper Piney Lake
13 miles away
We had a great time hiking to Upper Piney Lake over 4th of July weekend, 2006. Although the views are out of this world, the hike will take everything out of you that you've got. I would highly recommend this hike. Make sure you have everything you need for AT LEAST 2 days. The hike to Upper Piney will take 8 hours (all up hill)...But only 4 hours to get back to Piney River Ranch....

Gore Range Trail
19 miles away
Well, exhilarating or not, you may want to consider parking your tent and self away from trees.  The forests in the Gore and elsewhere in Colorado are dying, particularly and immediately the pines.  The aspens are dealing plague also, but of a fungi and bacterial nature.  Do NOT camp near trees.......RE SCARED IN MY LIFE! We set up our tents just before dark as the rain was really starting to come down. The forecast predicted a few small isolated showers along the Continental Davide, earlier in the day. Isolated my ass- it rained hard for about 6 or 7 hours!!! It was around 10pm when I was awaken by a VERY unfamiliar loud crackling, popping, and snapping sound. I've never in my life heard anything that closely resembled the sounds I was hearing. The first one that woke me & lasted about 30 seconds, the next came about 5 minutes later and lasted a few seconds longer. This time after the same noises as before ended, there was a horrific crashing sound that shook the area where my tent was pitched. That's when I realized the tree's were falling due to the rain softening the soil around the Tree roots. I thought for  sure one of the up-rooted tree's were going to crush  me & my tent like a Grape. God must have lent a helping hand because in the morning we counted 17 tree's  that fell. One of the 40 foot tree's landed w/ in 20ft of my tent. That was the one that nearly made me soil my...
