Daniher Reservoir is a great lake near Newby Reservoir, and there are some nice whitewater spots on Purgatoire River. For the period of the summer months here at Newby Reservoir, high temperatures frequently reach the 90's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and night lows during the winter for Newby Reservoir tend to be in the 10's. Around Newby Reservoir you don’t get a       lot of rainfall; through the month of July you get the most rain around here while January is commonly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. The overriding trait in the area is the Iron Springs Hills, and some nearby water includes Iron Springs Arroyo. The view of striking Iron Springs Hills near Newby Reservoir is tremendous; if you need a location to stay High Chaparral Inn is a good choice.
