There are great sites to discover along the Stoner Mesa Trail, and get wet paddling on San Miguel River. Going for a hike on the Fish Creek Trail is always a tremendous adventure, and get yourself into a kayak and hit San Miguel River. You think that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Near Mud Lake you find the Stoner Stock Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. You'll need more than       a day to explore everything Mud Lake has to offer, you can camp at Miramonte Reservoir Campground. At Mud Lake you don’t see much precipitation; the month of October is the wettest with most of the rain while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you need a spot to stay Dunton Hot Springs is a glorious choice. Not far from Mud Lake, you'll discover Bull Lake which is a pretty lake. There's so much to do here at Mud Lake that you need                  to camp here for a while, Mavreeso Campground is a brilliant place for that. From Mud Lake you get a brilliant vista of North Mountain, and a short visit to Bear Spring is always worthwhile. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Mud Lake with overnight lows in the 50's.
