Camping at Mountain Lake is splendid fun, Bearadise Cabins and RV Park is a splendid local campground; nearby you find the Black Hills Trail which is a fine hiking trail. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. The top of Kruger Mountain is easily spotted from Mountain Lake, and if you need a site to stay Knights Inn Walensburg is a magnificent

a great campground here.
Summer at Mountain Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are regularly in the 30's with temperatures
at Mountain Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Mountain Lake is pretty dried up mostly; throughout the month of August you get the most rain around here while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Eldora is a great local ski area; there is a great hiking trail nearby called the Peaks Trail.
The Sangre De Cristo Mountains scenery is always beautiful.
