    It's always fun to stop by Moon Lake. All year is a delightful time in the San Juan Mountains if you like the outdoors. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Vallecito Creek, and camping at Pine River Campground is always a good experience. This lake is one of the great places here in the San Juan Mountains. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the San Juan Mountains. The Middle Mountain Trail is a great hiking trail next to Moon Lake, and a glorious nearby  
   hotel is Bear Paw Lodge.
This lake is so wonderful. Take a little spree to Indian Creek since you're here at Moon Lake, and on a perfect day you can take a hike along the Devil Mountain Trail. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Moon Lake; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation.                Point is easy to spot from Moon Lake, and a good location to camp here at Moon Lake is Five Branches Camper Park.
This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Piedra River offers some great whitewater; close by you discover great spots like Bear Trap Canyon. After a long day outdoors Lone Wolf Lodge is a glorious location to spend a night or two, and a striking lake like Rocky Basin is a nice location to take a look at. Coyote Basin Spring is a good local attraction; if the weather is delightful, you can go for a hike along the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway.
For the duration of the summertime months highs here at Moon Lake get into the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 30's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Moon Lake are in the-10's.
