Around Monument Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; October is the month that gets the most rain, and June is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. At Monument Lake you always meet someone from Montrose, and you're probably hooked on lakes, Grassy Lake is one of those close by. Having a good time at Monument Lake is trouble-free. This is a splendid neighborhood for folks who like lakes. Hilkey       Pond is a lake in close proximity, and if the weather is fine, you can go for a hike along the Grassy Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Have a great hiking adventure along the Telephone Draw Trail. There's so much to do here at Monument Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Antone Spring Campground is a good spot for that. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Float down the rapids of San Miguel River in a kayak.                  You'll need more than a day to look at everything Monument Lake has to offer, you can camp at Smokehouse Campground. All the outdoors enjoyable stuff in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains will keep you coming back many times. A tour to Blue Mud Spring will fill your soul with great feelings, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Ray Trail. If you come at the right time of year, San Miguel River offers some wonderful whitewater, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Sundance is a good place to spend a night or two. Monument Lake is one of the lakes here in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Summertime brings highs in the 90's to Monument Lake. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's.
