Montez Reservoir is pretty dehydrated typically; the wettest month of the year is frequently August, that's the one that rains the most, and January is the month with the least moisture. Montez Reservoir is one of the lakes here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Montez Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Great Sand Dunes Oasis is a great place       for that; if the weather is delightful, you can go for a hike along the Ute Trail. So many exciting things in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, just mind-blowing. Sierra Blanco Reservoir Number 2 is a nearby lake that you could stop at. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Montez Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Pinyon Flats Campground. A great place to stop by in close proximity to Montez Reservoir is Shaft Draw, and after a long day                  outdoors Alamosa-Days Inn is a good location to spend a night or two. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. On a good day at Montez Reservoir you can take a hike along the Strawberry Trail, and if time allows, Great Sand Dunes National Monument is a national park worth going to. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Montez Reservoir. During the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. All through the winter highs are typically in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Montez Reservoir. If you want a good time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Montez Reservoir.
