While you're here at Medano Lake you can take a hike along the Music Pass Trail, and Medano Lake is a delightful location to visit for more than one day, Great Sand Dunes Oasis is a delightful location to camp nearby. Lakes are magnificent; McKinley Clay Reservoir is a lake that's in the neighborhood of Medano Lake; if you have time, Great Sand Dunes National Monument       is a national park worth a visit. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors amusing things the Sangre De Cristo Mountains has to offer. On a delightful day at Medano Lake you can take a hike along the Rainbow Trail, and Pinyon Flats Campground is a nice local campground. At Medano Lake you don’t see much rainfall; August is the wettest month with most rain while January is ordinarily the driest month.
