McKinley Reservoir is a beautiful lake in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Not much rainfall falls here at McKinley Reservoir; most of the rain falls all through August, and the driest month of the year is January. Have a great hiking adventure along the Bear Creek Trail, and Pinyon Flats Campground is a wonderful local campground. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's       to McKinley Reservoir, and the night is rather chillier of course, ordinarily in the 40's. Highs all through the wintertime are commonly in the 30's; all through the dark hours in the winter at McKinley Reservoir temperatures sink to the 0's. Bruff Creek flows through this vicinity, and McKinley Reservoir is a fine location to visit for more than one day, Cross D Bar Trout Ranch is a fine location to camp nearby. This is no location for people who don’t like                  to have fun. Nearby Watkins Gulch is a good place to go if you're at McKinley Reservoir. Man, is there a lot of amusing things to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Take a hike on the Horse Ranch Trail; you can take a little journey to Creager Dam while you're here at McKinley Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful.
