This lake is one of the great places here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. It is very dried out here at McKinley Clay Reservoir regularly; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. So many entertaining things to do here at McKinley Clay Reservoir, too nice to be true. Don't leave McKinley Clay Reservoir without first       going for a hike along the Rainbow Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Inn of the Rio Grande Hotel and Conference Ctr; there are great places to explore along the Marble Mountain Trail. So much entertaining stuff to do here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, too splendid to be true. Medano Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at; Great Sand Dunes Oasis is a great campground here. High temperatures at McKinley Clay Reservoir all                  through the warm months are in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's while McKinley Clay Reservoir night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 0's. Camping at McKinley Clay Reservoir is wonderful fun, Pinyon Flats Campground is a wonderful local campground, and going for a hike on the Music Pass Trail is always a nice adventure.
