A visit to McKelvie Reservoir is always a good idea. This lake is so wonderful. For the period of the summer highs here at McKelvie Reservoir get into the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's while the cold winter nights at McKelvie Reservoir are in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Super 8 Rifle is a perfect choice, and hiking along the Silver Spruce Trail is delightful

| | fun. La Quinta Inn & Suites Rifle is a great location to get some rest. You'll need more than a day to discover everything McKelvie Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Aspen Grove Campground. There's so much to do here at McKelvie Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Buzzard Campground is a brilliant spot for that; of course Anne Holland Creek flows through this area. Number 1 is a nearby lake, and if the weather is perfect, you can go for a hike along the Monument Trail. A tour to Grass Park rejuvenates the soul, needless to say you could also pop by Gander Pond since you're here; it's not
far at all. That right there is loads already, but it continues; McKelvie Reservoir has it all. A good vista of wonderful Boque Mountain is available from McKelvie Reservoir, and going for a hike along the High Trail will let you
absorb the natural beauty of this area. Around McKelvie Reservoir you don’t get a lot of rain; throughout the month of March you get the most rain around here while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
