McGinnis Lake is right by the High Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Sweetwater Creek. This lake is so wonderful. There's fine hiking along the Ute Trail. Lakes are great; Margaret Lake is a lake that's close to McGinnis Lake. On a       gorgeous day you acquire a vista of Lost Lakes Peaks from McGinnis Lake, and you're almost certainly interested in lakes, Skinny Fish Lake is one of those nearby. This lake is so wonderful. If you want to visit some attention-grabbing stuff, visit Chinese Wall, and after a long day outdoors Oak Tree Inn Yampa is a perfect spot to spend a night or two. Skinny Fish Basin is a delightful place here at McGinnis Lake, and you can stay the night at Trapline Campground.                  At McGinnis Lake through the summertime highs are in the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and overnight lows throughout the wintertime for McGinnis Lake tend to be in the 0's. Be careful coming to McGinnis Lake, you might not ever wanna go home again. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can visit McGinnis Meadows Reservoir Dam, and there's whitewater on White River - North Fork for all you adrenaline junkies.
