Go to McCullogh Reservoir if you want to go to a nice lake. Hesperus Ski Center is a very popular ski area in the vicinity; Box Canyon is nearby, and is a great site. At McCullogh Reservoir you don’t see much rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August, and June meanwhile is the driest month. The Goodhope Stock Driveway offers hiking at its best, and a great place for whitewater paddling is Animas River.

| | and don't leave McCullogh Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Highline Trail. Dry warm beds await you at Durango/Purgatory Super 8 Motel. There's so much to do here at McCullogh Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Lightner Creek Campground is a fine location for that.

summer months here at McCullogh Reservoir, high temperatures frequently get into the 80's; the night is somewhat cooler of course, frequently in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's while McCullogh
Reservoir nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 0's.
