For the period of the wintertime highs are typically in the 20's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at McCargar Reservoir. This lake is one of the great places here in the Park Range. Having a tremendous time in the Park Range is painless. Sunrise Vista Campground is a fine campground nearby; there are some great whitewater spots on Elk River. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around McCargar Reservoir; Burton Creek Trail is a wonderful local trail; you'll hit upon a pretty lake called Willow Creek Lake.                  This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Encampment River for all you adrenaline kick people; do have a look at McCargar Dam if you're here. But wait, there's more enjoyable stuff to do in the Park Range. If you need a place to stay Nordic Lodge of Steamboat is a good choice; if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Box Creek. McCargar Reservoir is a brilliant place to visit for more than one day, Dutch Hill Campground is a brilliant place to camp nearby; after a long day outdoors CrossTimbers at Steamboat is a tremendous location to spend a night or two.
