There are some good whitewater spots on San Miguel River, and there are other locations here than Mavriat Reservoir, for example Craig Draw Reservoir. Go for a hike on the Dry Creek Trail; you can stay the night at Antone Spring Campground. Around Mavriat Reservoir you don’t get a lot of rainfall; through July this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. For the period of the       warm days of summer at Mavriat Reservoir highs are frequently in the 80's, and the overnight is a tad cooler of course, generally in the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Mavriat Reservoir temperatures sink to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Fairmont Franz Klammer Lodge is a great place to spend a night or two. Just can't get enough of Mavriat Reservoir.                  Going for a hike on the Cottonwood Trail is always a fine adventure, and Iron Spring Campground is a nice campground nearby. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Lakes are such peaceful sites, why not stop by Upper Craig Draw Reservoir close to Mavriat Reservoir; Homestead Spring is an inspiring spot to take a look at while here. Near Mavriat Reservoir you find the Horsefly Trail which is a perfect hiking trail, and some of the water nearby flows, like McKenzie Creek. Mavriat Reservoir is located in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. All the outdoors cool things in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains will keep you coming back persistently.
