The Park Range scenery is always beautiful. Whohoo, so many cool things in one place! The Park Range rocks! The skiing at Vail is fine, and Eaglesmere Lakes is a nearby lake that you could stop at. If you need a place to stay Westwind at Vail Condominiums is a magnificent choice, and going for a hike on the Sheep Drive Trail is always a glorious adventure.
Go for a hike on the Eaglesmere Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you

then, we recommend Colorado River. This lake is so wonderful. There are some good whitewater spots on Blue River, and a lake nearby is Mirror Lake. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. Dry warm beds await you at Evergreen Lodge At Vail, and Mahan Lake is a wonderful location to visit for more than one day, Piney Crossing Campground is a wonderful location to camp nearby.
Now, you may assume that's a lot but there's even more enjoyable things to do here

in the Park Range. At Mahan Lake you always meet someone from Silverthorne, and close by you come across the Piney Lake Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. Mahan Lake gets very little precipitation; the month with most of the rain is August; February meanwhile is the driest month.
Summer brings highs in the 80's to Mahan Lake, and the overnight is a tad colder of course, frequently in the 40's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Mahan Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Everybody close by loves skiing at Beaver Creek; you can stay the night at Big Green Campground.

Upper Piney Lake
We had a great time hiking to Upper Piney Lake over 4th of July weekend, 2006. Although the views are out of this world, the hike will take everything out of you that you've got. I would highly recommend this hike. Make sure you have everything you need for AT LEAST 2 days. The hike to Upper Piney will take 8 hours (all up hill)...But only 4 hours to get back to Piney River Ranch....

Gore Range Trail
10 miles away
Well, exhilarating or not, you may want to consider parking your tent and self away from trees.  The forests in the Gore and elsewhere in Colorado are dying, particularly and immediately the pines.  The aspens are dealing plague also, but of a fungi and bacterial nature.  Do NOT camp near trees.......! We set up our tents just before dark as the rain was really starting to come down. The forecast predicted a few small isolated showers along the Continental Davide, earlier in the day. Isolated my ass- it rained hard for about 6 or 7 hours!!! It was around 10pm when I was awaken by a VERY unfamiliar loud crackling, popping, and snapping sound. I've never in my life heard anything that closely resembled the sounds I was hearing. The first one that woke me & lasted about 30 seconds, the next came about 5 minutes later and lasted a few seconds longer. This time after the same noises as before ended, there was a horrific crashing sound that shook the area where my tent was pitched. That's when I realized the tree's were falling due to the rain softening the soil around the Tree roots. I thought for  sure one of the up-rooted tree's were going to crush  me & my tent like a Grape. God must have lent a helping hand because in the morning we counted 17 tree's  that fell. One of the 40 foot tree's landed w/ in 20ft of my tent. That was the one that nearly made me soil my pants....... Overal...

Coveted as North America's top ski resort, Vail is an extraordinary winter vacation destination. Spanning seven miles are seven legendary Back Bowls, Blue Sky Basin and an expansive front side, blanketed last year with more than thirty-eight feet of powder snow. Under blue sky three hundred days a year and with more groomed terrain than anywhere on the planet, families reconnect and celebrate here from year to year and generation to generation. Coupled with the vision inherent in the spirit of Vail's founders, and a modern day commitment to excellence in all aspects of operation, the vacation experience is world class. From the Vail Snowsports School to the activities and festivals, the shops and spas, dining, nightlife and accommodations, Vail can credibly lay claim to being a resort like nothing on earth....

At the gate you leave the world behind. Nestled at the feet of North America's World Cup mountain, Beaver Creek is a custom-designed resort with the safe, unhurried feel of an Alpine hamlet. From the skating rink in the village square to chocolate-chip cookies served fresh from the oven each afternoon at the lifts, and from the ''Ivy League ski school'' to the world-famous performing arts center, this is perhaps the very best of luxury family skiing. And there is a mountain of prestigious awards for food, wine, and customer service to prove it....

... named Chuck Lewis looked at an unassuming mountainside with vision and conviction. He took one look at the current site of Copper and told his friends, I don’t care how everyone else does it, we're not everyone else, and he meant it. He negotiated a deal to purchase 280 acres at the base and worked with the Forest Service to establish parameters and guidelines for the ski area. Chuck was both a renegade and a visionary. During the summer of '71, initial construction began on the ski trails. Today, Chuck’s dream is alive and well.

As stated in a 1969 US Forest Service report, if there were a mountain that had terrain for skiing it would be Copper Mountain. It is the most nearly perfect ski mountain in the U. S. Over the years, new lifts were added and Copper grew to its current size of 2,465 acres. What was once a sleepy little day ski area is now one of Colorado's premier year-round destination resorts. In 1997, the resort was purchased by Intrawest - a worldwide leader in resort operations and real estate development.

Now the resort consists of not only an incredible ...

...tenance is also a top priority this summer with brush cutting and mowing work on the mountain's trails including the ''Extreme Limits'' taking place. The upgrades are all part of the Muellers' mission to continue to enhance CBMR as a family-friendly, guest oriented and aesthetically pleasing resort. ''We want to raise the bar again and continue to ensure that we deliver the best overall resort experience for our guests.'' said Tim Mueller.
The Plan Continues
This year's improvements and enhancements build upon Crested Butte Mountain Resort's continued investments in base area and on-mountain improvements over the past four years. New snowmaking, grooming and lift system expansion and improvements along with the completion of the Lodge at Mountaineer Square and Mountaineer Conference Center last season is just part of a 200 million dollar resort wide capital improvement plan.
