This lake is one of the great places here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. There's good hiking along the Rainbow Trail. That right there is a load already, but it carries on; Lower Sand Creek Lake has it all. If you get bored of Lower Sand Creek Lake, you could also       have a look at nearby Hanging Lake, and a perfect site to stop by is Music Pass. High temperatures at Lower Sand Creek Lake throughout the warm months are in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Lower Sand Creek Lake are in the 0's. Camping is available at Pinyon Flats Campground, and the peak of Cleveland Peak can be observed from Lower Sand Creek Lake.
