It is very dried up here at Lower Sand Creek Lake commonly; most of the rain falls during August while January is typically the driest month. Having a good time in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains is easy. This is a nice area for people who like lakes. Hanging Lake is a lake nearby, and going for a hike on the Rainbow Trail is always a fine adventure. Man, is there a lot of cool stuff to do near Lower Sand       Creek Lake. A splendid sight of pretty Cleveland Peak is available from Lower Sand Creek Lake, and a nice location is Music Pass. Through the days of summer highs here at Lower Sand Creek Lake reach the 80's, and the overnight is slightly colder of course, mostly in the 40's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Lower Sand Creek Lake. Great Sand Dunes National Monument is a great place next to                  Lower Sand Creek Lake; Pinyon Flats Campground is a good local campground. But wait, there's more enjoyable stuff to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at nearby South Colony Lakes. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of folks from Canon City here; nearby you come across the Marble Mountain Trail which is a great hiking trail. Lower Sand Creek Lake is located in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains.
