Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. Through the winter the highs are commonly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Lower Lake are in the 0's. So many fun things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, not sufficient time. Paddling on Rio Chama is so much fun, and Branding Iron Motel is a nice spot to get some rest. Lower Lake sees pretty high levels of rain;       the month of March is the wettest with most of the snow; the driest month of the year is June. After a long day outdoors Best Western Jicarilla Inn & Casino is a great place to spend a night or two, and camping is available at Trujillo Meadows Campground. There's no way someone can get bored here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Good hiking is available along the La Manga Stock Driveway. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at El Vado Lake Camping Resort                  is always a splendid experience, and do have a look at Cox Lakes, it's a wonderful lake. Glide down the rapids of Conejos River in a kayak; hiking is a popular thing to do around Lower Lake; Elk Creek Trail is a fine local trail. If you want a good time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Lower Lake. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Red Lake Trail, and if you're here, you could also stop by lovely Middle Lake.
