Lower Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Camping at Lower Lake is splendid fun, El Vado Lake Camping Resort is a splendid local campground; there is a great hiking trail nearby called the La Manga Stock Driveway. A splendid close by hotel is Best Western Jicarilla Inn, and lakes are such peaceful spots, why not check out Cox Lakes. Whohoo, so much amusing stuff in one place! Lower Lake is so good! And if that's not sufficient there's heaps more exciting things to do in the San Juan Mountains. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Conejos River, and Trujillo Meadows Campground is a great campground here. winter the highs are generally in the 30's while Lower Lake overnight low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 0's. The high level of precipitation makes Lower Lake a pretty wet place; March is when you get the most snow
here, and June is the month with the least moisture.
This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Rio Chama offers some tremendous whitewater, and there are perfect locations to look at along the Red Lake Trail. Lower Lake is located in the San Juan Mountains.
