The reservoir has an astonishing breathtaking view, nothing like I have ever seen before, yes that beautiful! We went the weekend of July 10th, 2009 the weather during the day is very nice and sunny avg. temp about 75 degrees, the nights however are very cold, dipping into the low 40's and 30's, so be prepared for that, we came with too little of blankets and learned that to be a big mistake. Long draw is located about 15 mi. inland from Hwy 14 just past Chambers, driving into the reservoir looks deceitful because it seems as though you are traveling into the thick of the forest with nothing but trees around, but be patient 15 mi. in you will discover the camp ground, enjoy! Long Draw Reservoir gets very little rain; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain; November is when it's the driest. Go for a hike on the Big South Trail, and Long Draw Reservoir is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Grand View Campground is a fine local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Corral Park Trail is always a splendid       adventure, and Long Draw is another tremendous place to have a look at nearby. In case you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cache La Poudre River; obviously Corral Creek flows through this vicinity. So many fun things to do at Long Draw Reservoir, so little time. Why not have a look at Long Draw Dam since you're here, and there are good spots to look at along the Poudre River Trail. Trap Lake is a nearby lake that                  you could stop by, and whitewater paddling is great on Joe Wright Creek. Inn At Grand Lake, The is a nice site to get some rest; a pleasant trip to Corral Park is a delightful way to spend an afternoon. All through the summer at Long Draw Reservoir highs are frequently in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 30's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Long Draw Reservoir temperatures sink to the 0's. If time allows, Rocky Mountain National Park is a national park worth taking a look at. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Peak To Peak Lodge Inc. is a wonderful choice.
