Little Johnson Reservoir is a nice lake to visit. If you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Express Colorado Springs, Co is a splendid choice. Lakes are tremendous; Fountain Valley Reservoir Number 3 is a lake that's in close proximity to Little Johnson Reservoir. East Fork Sand Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting; hiking is a popular thing to do around Little Johnson Reservoir; Penrose Trail is a pleasant local trail. along the Indian Trail. Little Johnson Reservoir is usually a pretty dried out location; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest of the months is January. All through the warm months here at Little Johnson Reservoir,
high temperatures ordinarily get into the 70's while nighttime lows are regularly in the 40's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Little Johnson Reservoir temperatures dip to the 0's.

Stanley Canyon Trail

Hiked the Stanley Canyon trail with a friend and enjoyed the trail very much up to the reservoir. About half way up there is a ''V'' in the trail and you need to stay to the left or straight ahead. The trail leading up and to the right ends in scree and downed trees. It's a moderately strenuous trail up to the reservoir; but well worth it. Afterwards, we hiked up and past the reservoir and wanted to loop around and hit the lower Stanley trail but were unable to find the trailhead for it. We ended up blazing new ground and coming down Eagle Peak trail much to our surprise.... |

nice lake, easy to get to. Fits a couple of canoes. Some marshy area where people train their dogs. Fishing in 2007 was expected to be not the best due to the drought in 2004. We went twice in 2007, kids had a couple of bites, could see some people catching some smaller fish. Good lake for the ''I only have a few hours before the kids games'' kinda place.... |
