You could also pop by Dollar Lake while you're here at Little Emerald Lake; it's nearby; glide down the rapids of Piedra River in a kayak. And if that's not enough there's loads more exciting stuff to do in the San Juan Mountains. Just can't get enough of the San Juan Mountains. If you came for an overnight stay Pine River Campground is a magnificent location to camp, and Little Emerald Lake is right       by the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway. Now, you may imagine that's plenty but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Little Emerald Lake. Hiking along the Whitehead Trail is good fun, and do take a hike on the Devil Mountain Trail. Little Emerald Lake is one of the lakes here in the San Juan Mountains. Summertime highs at Little Emerald Lake mostly tend to be in the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs                  in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Little Emerald Lake. Skiing at Silverton is one of those things you just have to do, and you could always look at Hell Canyon. This lake is so wonderful. Get dripping wet paddling on Vallecito Creek; Vallecito Campground is a great campground here.
