     Not much precipitation falls here at Leviathan Lake; August is the wettest month with most rain while June is frequently the driest month. Summertime at Leviathan Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 40's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Leviathan Lake. On a good day at Leviathan Lake you can take a hike along the Whitehead Trail.
This lake is so
 
   wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Blue Spruce Trailer Park is a delightful location to camp, and going for a hike on the Brooklyn Trail is always a tremendous adventure. Leviathan Lake sits in the shade of the Grenadier Range, and Lake Silex is a nearby lake that you could stop at. Just can't get enough of the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. On a pretty day you get a vista of Gray Needle from Leviathan Lake, and if you need a place to stay Purgatory  
               Lodge by Durango Mountain Resorts is a brilliant choice.
And if that's not enough there's plenty more entertaining things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. If you come at the right time of year, Vallecito Creek offers some tremendous whitewater, and there is a perfect hiking trail nearby called the Deer Park Trail. Camping is available at Vallecito Campground, and pretty scenery and wonderful skiing is what you acquire at Silverton. This lake is so wonderful. There are some great whitewater spots on Animas River, and dry warm beds await you at Purgatory Village Condominium Hotel.
Leviathan Lake is located in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. If only every location had this much outdoors enjoyable things, what a great world it would be. Skiing at Kendall Mountain is one of those things you just ought to do, and if you're here, you could also pop by pretty Balsam Lake.
