Kannah Creek is a fine whitewater spot near The Lake, and if you came for an overnight stay Dominguez Campground is a brilliant place to camp. T Bone Spring Campground is a great campground nearby; the Long Point Trail is a great hiking trail nearby. And if that's not enough there's lots more enjoyable things to do in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. There is a magnificent hiking trail close to The Lake called the       Brushy Ridge Trail, and you can run the rapids of Escalante Creek. The Lake is pretty waterless commonly; the month with most of the rain is August while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is one of the great places here in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. You'll meet a lot of people from Montrose here, and Bennetts Basin is a pleasant place. For the period of the summer, highs typically are in the 90's at The Lake while                  overnight lows are regularly in the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's, and overnight lows at The Lake during the wintertime mostly drop into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from The Lake, you'll discover Love Lake which is a pretty lake, and going for a hike on the Short Point Trail is always a great adventure. Now, you may feel that's loads but there's even more fun things to do here in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains.
