This lake is so wonderful. It's always great to have a look at Bessies Falls, and do take a hike on the Ute Trail. There's whitewater on Sweetwater Creek for all you adrenaline kick people, and Himes Peak can be seen from Lake of the Woods. You could also stop at Lake of the Woods while you're here at Lake of the Woods; it's nearby, and dry warm       beds await you at Oak Tree Inn Yampa. Whohoo, so much exciting stuff in one place! Lake of the Woods rules! Nearby lakes? Sure, Lake of the Woods is close to Lake of the Woods, and Lake of the Woods is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Shepherds Rim Campground is a splendid local campground. Throughout the summer highs here at Lake of the Woods get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in                  the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Lake of the Woods plunge into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend White River - North Fork, and since you're here, you could explore Big Fish Creek. Lake of the Woods is usually a relatively waterless site; throughout October this area sees the most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture.
