Lake San Cristobal is a nice lake to visit. Lake San Cristobal is pretty dried up usually; August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is February. Man, is there a lot of exciting things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Texas Point is not far from Lake San Cristobal at all; if you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Henson Creek.
