LEDE Reservoir, Sawatch Range, Eagle County, Colorado     Custom Search User input for LEDE Reservoir, Sawatch Range, Eagle County, Colorado: Justin Himlin: What happened to the water as of 10-20-9?  We drove up to catch a couple trout only to find the lake has been drained?  John McKay: Beautiful drive up to Lede Reservoir.  We started in Eagle and took Sylvan Lake road all the way past the lake and then took a right at the first intersection.  After climbing up and around the peak in front of us we were upon some huge rolling meadows that were among the forrests.  A slight drop down into the valley on the west side of the mountains and a left turn lead us to the reservoir.  It is a great spot with some fishing paths around the water and a number of campsites as well.  We continued west to Gypsum Creek Road and a short drive back to the town of Gypsum. It's always delightful to stop by Antones Spring, and Adam Campground is a splendid campground nearby. Not much rain falls here at LEDE Reservoir; most of the rain falls through July, and February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Ironedge Trail is splendid fun, and if you're here, you could also go to pretty Lost Lake. So many entertaining things       to do in the Sawatch Range, not sufficient time. Get your heart beating on the wonderful whitewater of Eagle River, and if you need a site to stay SilverLeaf Suites of Eagle is a nice choice. Having a perfect time at LEDE Reservoir is trouble-free. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Fryingpan River, and LEDE Reservoir is right by the Antone Trail. Best Western Eagle Lodge is a nice spot to get some rest, and everybody                  nearby loves skiing at Aspen Highlands. Gotta ski! Aspen Mountain is a pleasant place to do that. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sawatch Range. Summer at LEDE Reservoir arrives with high temperatures in the 80's; the nighttime is rather colder of course, usually in the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's with temperatures at LEDE Reservoir dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. If you came for an overnight stay LEDE Reservoir Campground is a glorious site to camp, and going for a hike along the Salt Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. This lake is so wonderful.
