For the period of the days of summer at Kerr Lake highs are frequently in the 60's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 40's. Through the winter highs are in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Kerr Lake temperatures drop to the 0's. And if that's not enough there's a heap more exciting things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. A great close by hotel is Allington Inn and Suites, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Dry Creek
Stock Driveway. This lake is so wonderful. From Kerr Lake you acquire a great view of Cornwall Mountain, and you'll come across a delightful lake called Lilly Pond.
This place, Kerr Lake, it absolutely has so much outdoors amusing stuff. While you're here at Kerr Lake, you could also explore charming Platoro Reservoir; Government Park is a brilliant place. Kerr Lake is located in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Just can't get enough of the San Juan and Jemez

Mountains. Wightman Fork is a brilliant local stream. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Kerr Lake has to offer, you can camp at Stunner Campground.
Stay the night at Mix Lake Campground, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Lake Fork Trail. If you need a spot to stay The Spruce Lodge is a great choice, and you can run the rapids of Conejos River.
All the water falling down from the sky makes Kerr Lake a wet site; the month with most of the snow is March; June on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Near Kerr Lake you come across Sawmill Gulch which is a tremendous location to visit, and there is a nice hiking trail close by called the Hot Creek Stock Driveway.

Bear Lake Trail
Bear Lake was surely a disappointment! I'd heard it had good fishing, but after puffing up a long, steep, and confusing trail (we lost our way more than once, delaying our arrival about an hour) we found the lake nearly dry; muddy, and infested with mosquitoes! Next time I'll save myself the bother and fish the Conejos. ...

Spruce Hole Trail
18 miles away
While I have not had the pleasure of hiking any of its trails yet, I look forward to camping in this area. I ''scouted'' the dirt road into the Spruce Hole exit off of the main road. It is very lovely through this piece of wilderness. Lots of healthy pines, wildflowers, and plenty of wildlife too. Sorry I don't have any pictures, but if you're thinking about camping or hiking here... I highly suggest that you do!...

Trujillo Meadows Campground
19 miles away
In the 16 years that I have lived in the area, there has never been white water ( for rafting, canoeing, kayaking etc. I presume) in the Brazos. I think you are referring to the Chama River which starts in the Colorado San Juans and flows through New Mexico into the Rio Grande in Espanola ,NM. Plenty of white water there in the spring time....You seem to have missed letting people know about the great trout fishing at Trujillo Meadows. I have never been there that I haven't hooked a big one....

Opal Lake
19 miles away
I was raised near this lake and when a child we had to pack horses into this lake. It is not near any campgrounds, and it's over 25 miles to town, not 18. It gets way colder than 0 in the winter but the views are almost correct.  It IS beautiful!...
