Why not camp at Gore Pass Campground while you're here at Jones Reservoir, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Piney Lake Trail. Jones Reservoir is a beautiful lake in the Park Range. If you like the outdoors you'll like it here in the Park Range. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Christenson Reservoir; hiking is a popular thing to do around Jones Reservoir; Sheep Drive Trail is a splendid local trail.
Take

a hike on the Eaglesmere Trail; you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Beaver Creek if you're here. You can never get enough of the perfect skiing at Vail, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Colorado River. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Beaver Creek West Condominiums is a fine site to spend a night or two, and Jones Dam has glorious water scenery.
This location, the

Park Range, has so much outdoors amusing stuff. Not far from Jones Reservoir, you'll stumble on Rock Gap Dam Reservoir which is a striking lake, and Allington Inn and Suites of Kremmling is a great spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Blue River for all you adrenaline kick people, and Dice Hill is stunning and can be spotted from here. Jones Reservoir gets very little rainfall; most of the rain falls during July, and February on the other hand is the driest.
If only every place had this much outdoors entertaining things, what a great planet it would be. Summertime highs at Jones Reservoir usually tend to be in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 40's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Jones Reservoir descend into the 0's. Man, is there a lot of entertaining things to do right next door to Jones Reservoir. Camping is available at Red Mountain RV Park; you'll probably meet some people from Edwards here.

Upper Piney Lake

We had a great time hiking to Upper Piney Lake over 4th of July weekend, 2006. Although the views are out of this world, the hike will take everything out of you that you've got. I would highly recommend this hike. Make sure you have everything you need for AT LEAST 2 days. The hike to Upper Piney will take 8 hours (all up hill)...But only 4 hours to get back to Piney River Ranch....

Well, exhilarating or not, you may want to consider parking your tent and self away from trees.  The forests in the Gore and elsewhere in Colorado are dying, particularly and immediately the pines.  The aspens are dealing plague also, but of a fungi and bacterial nature.  Do NOT camp near trees.......SCARED IN MY LIFE! We set up our tents just before dark as the rain was really starting to come down. The forecast predicted a few small isolated showers along the Continental Davide, earlier in the day. Isolated my ass- it rained hard for about 6 or 7 hours!!! It was around 10pm when I was awaken by a VERY unfamiliar loud crackling, popping, and snapping sound. I've never in my life heard anything that closely resembled the sounds I was hearing. The first one that woke me & lasted about 30 seconds, the next came about 5 minutes later and lasted a few seconds longer. This time after the same noises as before ended, there was a horrific crashing sound that shook the area where my tent was pitched. That's when I realized the tree's were falling due to the rain softening the soil around the Tree roots. I thought for  sure one of the up-rooted tree's were going to crush  me & my tent like a Grape. God must have lent a helping hand because in the morning we counted 17 tree's  that fell. One of the 40 foot tree's landed w/ in 20ft of my tent. That was the one that nearly made me soil my pa...

At the gate you leave the world behind. Nestled at the feet of North America's World Cup mountain, Beaver Creek is a custom-designed resort with the safe, unhurried feel of an Alpine hamlet. From the skating rink in the village square to chocolate-chip cookies served fresh from the oven each afternoon at the lifts, and from the ''Ivy League ski school'' to the world-famous performing arts center, this is perhaps the very best of luxury family skiing. And there is a mountain of prestigious awards for food, wine, and customer service to prove it....

Coveted as North America's top ski resort, Vail is an extraordinary winter vacation destination. Spanning seven miles are seven legendary Back Bowls, Blue Sky Basin and an expansive front side, blanketed last year with more than thirty-eight feet of powder snow. Under blue sky three hundred days a year and with more groomed terrain than anywhere on the planet, families reconnect and celebrate here from year to year and generation to generation. Coupled with the vision inherent in the spirit of Vail's founders, and a modern day commitment to excellence in all aspects of operation, the vacation experience is world class. From the Vail Snowsports School to the activities and festivals, the shops and spas, dining, nightlife and accommodations, Vail can credibly lay claim to being a resort like nothing on earth....
