You should positively dedicate some time to Ice Lake Basin since you're here at Island Lake, and you can stay the night at South Mineral Campground. Nearby lakes? Sure, Ice Lake is near Island Lake, and a day on the slopes of Telluride is just what you need. This lake is so wonderful.
