Good hiking is available along the Coleman Cutoff Trail; if you get bored of Island Lake you could also go to close by Russell Lakes. A glorious place to camp here at Island Lake is La Garita Creek Ranch; AppleLodge Bed And Breakfast is a good place to get some rest. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun things       at Island Lake. After a long day outdoors Budget Host Monte Villa Inn Monte Vista is a good spot to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Island Lake; Divide Trail is a delightful local trail, and Harrence Lake is a nearby lake that you could pop by. Throughout the warm months highs here at Island Lake get into the 70's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. For the duration of the winter this                  place gets highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Island Lake.
