In case you don’t mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Crystal River; do take a hike on the Hammond Trail. So much cool stuff to do here at Island Lake, too magnificent to be true. A brilliant place to camp here at Island Lake is Osgood Campground; the Terror Trail offers hiking at its best. During the summertime, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Island Lake with overnight lows       in the 50's. All through the winter highs are regularly in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Island Lake temperatures dip to the 0's. At Island Lake you don’t see much rainfall; the wettest month of the year is typically October, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Huntsman Mountain is scenic and can be seen from Island Lake; if you need a site to stay Sunlight Mountain                  Inn is a perfect choice. Carbondale-Days Inn is a brilliant spot to get some rest, and Island Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, McClure Campground is a brilliant local campground.
