This lake is so wonderful. Monarch is a very popular ski area around here, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Vista Inn is a splendid place to spend a night or two. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool things in the Sawatch Range. Island Lake is pretty dried out frequently; all through the month of August you get the most rain around here; the driest month is June. A nice close by hotel is Super 8 Buena Vista, and camping is available at Monarch Park Campground. So many cool things to
do here at Island Lake, too brilliant to be true. Billings Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit; a spree to Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park is worthwhile. Island Lake is one of the lakes here in the Sawatch Range.
Yeah, come here to Island Lake for a tremendous time. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Garfield Campground is always a brilliant experience, and get drenched paddling on Arkansas River. During the summer highs here at Island
Lake reach the 70's; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 30's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Island Lake fall into the-20's.

...ski area. Abundant natural snow (350+ inches) and friendly people are two of our strongest attributes. You can walk from your car right to the lifts, prices are reasonable, and the runs flow naturally back to the base area. At Monarch you'll lose the crowds but not your friends.
Monarch is a family favorite because of great snow conditions and easy access to the mountain. Having one base area makes it convenient to drop off the little ones in the Children's Center, pick-up rental equipment, sign up for ski school and get on the slopes in a timely manner. Lift lines are a rarity and you will regularly find ski runs to yourself.
Looking for great powder, spectacular views, 1000+ acres of expert terrain, steeps, trees, cliffs, and bowls? You found it with Monarch Mountain. Check out the 130 acres of hike-to terrain in Mirkwood Basin from the top of the Breezeway Lift. Monarch Mountain Snowcat Tours offers some of the best Snowcat skiing in the state-guests enjoy skiing/riding in closely spaced trees, variable snow conditions and extremely steep slopes.

Premium sites include free CATV & fire rings. Other amenities include private family style showers, laundry, propane. Well mannered pets OK. We also rent late model travel and pop-up trailers.
Around the park plan to be treated to a quiet atmosphere, but lots to do, including facilities for many camping-type outdoor games. We may plan a pancake breakfast or a game of bingo or play beanbag baseball or Goofy Golf.
