Elk Knob is easy to spot from Indian Lake; in all probability you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Shepherd Lake is just a very short distance away. Indian Lake is pretty dry usually; during October this area sees the most rain; the driest month of the year is January. Yeah, come here to Indian Lake for a glorious time. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Sunlight Mountain, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Antlers is a fine site

| | to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Deep Lake Campground is a nice location to camp, and Rodeway Inn Glenwood Springs is a great location to get some rest.

Lake is in close proximity; going for a hike along the South Derby Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area.
Take a hike on the Oyster Lake Trail, and Deep Lake Campground Number 2 is a pleasant local campground.
Summertime highs at Indian Lake regularly tend to be in the 80's, and the overnight is quite cooler of course, typically in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Indian Lake fall into the 0's.

Jet lake is also located in the Flat Tops wilderness area so no vehicles allowed but is only about a 15 to 20 minute hike to the lake (an easy pretty flat hike) then about another 15 minute hike into shadow lake , about 15 mor into blair lake and about 15 more into crater lake.
Elk lakes are located about 5 minutes from the wilderness area only 1/2 mile to the parking for jet lakes....

located at the foot of Blair Mountain Adams Lake is well worth the trip. Definatly a 4 wheel drive Jeep Trail but only a few miles from Elk lakes, Jet lake, Shadow Lake, Blair lakes , Crater Lake, Deep lake and bison lake. Lots of Cut throat trout, rainbows and browns. Most deffinatly more than a one day trip. Always plan for all kinds of weather, and definitely tent camping only.... |

I fished last year and am coming back next week to fish again. It is very nice to fish from a boat or bank, but I prefer boat....Wife and I where fishing Stagecoach, then we heard of Yamcolo, it was about 20 mins out of Yampa. We came around the corner of the earthen dam side, looked down the fish where jumpin all over the place grabbed the poles and it was off to the rodoe,15 fish as fast as we could 45min past sorry did not have camera going back this year in couple of weeks can't wait New Castle Colo, Apple Tree Park... |
