This lake is so wonderful. Geissler Mountain is a peak you can catch a sight of from Independence Lake, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Aspen Highlands. VillaHotel Bears Creek is a great site to get some rest, and obviously, A trip to Independence Pass is always fun. At Independence Lake you don’t see much rain; most of the rain falls throughout August, and February is when it's the       driest. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sawatch Range. This lake is so wonderful. Portal Campground is a glorious campground here, and if you come at the right time of year, Roaring Fork offers some great whitewater. Whohoo, so many exciting things in one place! The Sawatch Range is peerless! Not far from Independence Lake, you'll stumble on Blue Lake which is a pretty lake, and if you need a place to stay The Alpenblick By Aspen Lodging Company                  is a delightful choice. The warmest time of the year at Independence Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Independence Lake. That right there is a heap already, but it keeps on going; Independence Lake has it all. Drift down the rapids of Lake Creek in a kayak, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Mount Massive Trail. Camping at Independence Lake is nice fun, Lost Man Campground is a nice local campground; Independence Lake is right by the Sawyer Lake Trail. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors amusing stuff the Sawatch Range has to offer.
