What a nice lake Hunts Lake is. Hunts Lake is one of the lakes here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Be careful coming to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, you might not ever want to return home again. You don't must go far from Hunts Lake to enjoy San Isabel National Forest, and going for a hike on the Hunts Lake Trail is always a glorious adventure. | | also stop by striking West Creek Lake, and there are some tremendous whitewater spots on Arkansas River.
This lake is so wonderful. Green Gulch is close to Hunts Lake and is a good site. Hunts Lake is pretty dry mostly; during the month of August you get the most rain around here, and January is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. High temperatures at Hunts Lake through the summer are in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are in
the 40's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Hunts Lake temperatures dip to the 10's. Go for a hike on the Simmons Peak Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Sugarbush Grocery and Camp is a great spot to camp. A wonderful
close by hotel is Circle R Motel; camping at Hunts Lake is good fun, Broken Arrow Resort is a good local campground.
There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Hunts Lake. If you need a location to stay Salida-Days Inn is a perfect choice, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Arkansas River.
