And if that's not sufficient, there's a load more to do in the vicinity of Hourglass Lake. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to close by Alverjones Lake, and don't leave Hourglass Lake without first going for a hike along the Elk Creek Trail. Hourglass Lake commonly gets a large amount of rainfall; the month of March is the wettest with most of the snow,       and June on the other hand is the driest. There's no way someone can get bored here in the San Juan Mountains. Near Hourglass Lake you hit upon Victoria Gulch which is a great location to go to; everybody loves Second Meadows. Hourglass Lake is a beautiful lake in the San Juan Mountains. There are pleasant sites to explore along the Ruybalid Trail, and you can stay the night at Spectacle Lake Campground. Yep, outdoors entertaining stuff truly is abundant                  here in the San Juan Mountains. There's whitewater on Rio de los Pinos for all you thrill seekers. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Conejos River, and perfect hiking is available along the South Fork Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Hourglass Lake is a perfect site to camp, Conejos Campground is a perfect site, and a wonderful nearby hotel is The Spruce Lodge. At Hourglass Lake all through the long summer days highs are in the 60's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's.
