It's always great to have a look at Lower Waunita Hot Springs. Carter Lake is a glorious lake right next door to Hot Springs Reservoir; stopping by Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. A nice location to camp here at Hot Springs Reservoir is Pitkin Campground, and the sight of Tomichi Dome is striking. Lakes are such calm spots, why not pop by Needle       Creek Reservoir near Hot Springs Reservoir, and you might also want to pay a visit to Box Canyon since you're here at Hot Springs Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. Hot Springs Reservoir is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Monarch Valley Ranch is a splendid local campground, and Super 8 Motel - Gunnison/Crested Butte is a good location to get some rest. Throughout the warm months, highs typically are in the 70's at Hot Springs Reservoir, and                  during the night it cools down to the 30's. Highs during the wintertime are typically in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Hot Springs Reservoir. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun stuff at Hot Springs Reservoir. Very magnificent water scenery is available at Hot Springs Creek Dam near Hot Springs Reservoir, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Quakey Mountain Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Taylor River, and you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Coyote Park Trail. Not much precipitation falls here at Hot Springs Reservoir; the month with most of the snow is December, and June is the month with the least moisture.
