So much amusing stuff to do at Horsethief Lake, so little time. The peak of Forest Hill can be seen from Horsethief Lake, and the Timberline Trail is a pleasant hiking trail close by. Taylor River has a nice whitewater paddling spot nearby. If you came to camp Dorchester Campground is a wonderful spot to do that, and Horsethief Lake is near Dustin Gulch which is without doubt worth stopping at. While       you're here at Horsethief Lake you can take a hike along the Star Trail, and dry warm beds await you at The Alpenblick By Aspen Lodging Company. Horsethief Lake gets very little rainfall; most of the snow falls through December while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Aspen Highlands; whitewater paddling is splendid on Roaring Fork. All through the long                  summer days at Horsethief Lake temperatures are typically in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 30's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 20's while Horsethief Lake overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the-10's. There's so much to do here at Horsethief Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Mosca Campground is a delightful location for that; on a glorious day you can take a hike along the Matchless Trail. This lake is so wonderful. A pretty lake like Lily Pond near Horsethief Lake is a perfect location to have a look at, and you can hit the slopes at Aspen Mountain around here.
