Horseshoe Lake is not the only site nearby, Hermit Lake is a nearby lake; if you need a location to stay AppleLodge Bed And Breakfast is a fine choice. These mountains rock, just look at all the amusing things to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. A splendid site to explore near Horseshoe Lake is Hermit Pass, and camping is available at North Crestone Campground. This lake is so wonderful.

| | Lake. The Lake of the Clouds Trail offers hiking at its best, and Groundhog Basin is a great location. For the duration of the days of summer highs here at Horseshoe Lake reach the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Horseshoe Lake. A lake nearby is Eureka Lake; on a pretty day you get a good panorama of Eureka Mountain from Horseshoe Lake.

lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Arkansas River offers some good whitewater, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Horseshoe Lake; Rito Alto Trail is a good local trail. The Sangre De Cristo Mountains
scenery is always beautiful. Around Horseshoe Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; all through the month of August you get the most rain around here, and January on the other hand is the driest.
You just have to go for the Sangre
De Cristo Mountains. Good hiking is available along the Hermit Lake Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Lake Creek Campground is a brilliant place to camp.

 | Trail is awful, disappearing and reappearing every now and again. Thorn bushes and trash cover what little trail is easy to navigate. Trail disappears completely before you actually reach the lake. Also it appears that an axe murderer has taken up residence in the upperwoods. Be careful and travel in large groups if you plan to try and make it to the lake. It is easy to get lost so mark your trail well.... |
