Hermit Pass is a magnificent site to explore nearby, and a picturesque lake like Venable Lakes is a wonderful location to check out. Groundhog Basin is right here at Horseshoe Lake, and hiking along the Lake of the Clouds Trail is nice fun. If you want a splendid time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Horseshoe Lake. At Horseshoe Lake you can see Eureka Mountain; Horseshoe       Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Lake Creek Campground is a great local campground. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is located in the wonderful Sangre De Cristo Mountains. The warmest time of the year at Horseshoe Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's while overnight lows are regularly in the 40's. For the period of the winter the highs are usually in the 30's while Horseshoe Lake night low temperatures all through the winter                  are in the 0's. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! The Sangre De Cristo Mountains is excellent! Arkansas River has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby, and Hermit Lake is a tremendous lake close by. At Horseshoe Lake you don’t see much precipitation; August is when you get the most rain here while January is regularly the driest month. Now, you may feel that's plenty but there's even more cool things to do here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. There's so much to do here at Horseshoe Lake that you need to camp here for a while, North Crestone Campground is a nice site for that, and do take a hike on the Rito Alto Trail.
