     Dry warm beds await you at Dunton Hot Springs; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by close by Railroad Reservoir. In the event that you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Dolores River, and don't leave Horsecamp Number One Reservoir without first going for a hike along the McPhee Stock Trail. If time allows, Mesa Verde National Park is a national park worth a visit, and if you need a place  
   to stay Days Inn Cortez is a fine choice. The warmest time of the year at Horsecamp Number One Reservoir arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and the overnight is quite chillier of course, mostly in the 50's. Highs all through the winter are frequently in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Horsecamp Number One Reservoir.
Good hiking is available along the Stoner Stock Trail, and camping at Dolores River RV Park is always a great
 
               experience. This lake is so wonderful. Having a great time at Horsecamp Number One Reservoir is trouble-free. There's magnificent hiking along the Ormiston Point Stock Driveway, and nearby you hit upon brilliant spots like Boggy Draw.
Horsecamp Number One Reservoir gets very little rainfall; the wettest month of the year is frequently October, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is June. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are good; Spur Reservoir is a lake that's near Horsecamp Number One Reservoir, and camping is available at Cozy Comfort RV Park and Mountain Retreat.

Puett Reservoir
A.M. Puett Reservoir was originally constructed in 1905, and then reconstructed in 1960. It contains 163 surface acres when full and is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and open for public fishing from the bank and from trolling motor powered boats. No swimming is allowed. The lake is on private land and access is limited to 3 feet above the high water line....

Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed....

We stayed in this campground mid-July 2006. Very efficient, friendly park. Adequate power, water, and sewage hookups. Rates were reasonable; and the manager did indicate that longer stays were discounted. Nice fenced dog run for our puppies to enjoy. The microbrewery in town has a wide selection of locally made beverages. I would gladly stop at La Mesa RV Park again....
