For the period of the days of summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Horn Lakes, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool things at Horn Lakes. The major mark in the area is the Sangre De Cristo Range, and the Venable-Comanche Trail is a perfect hiking trail close by. This lake is so wonderful. Put some time aside to spend at Macey Falls since you're here at Horn Lakes, and nearby you find the Loop Trail which is a good hiking trail. Horn Lakes is a beautiful lake in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains.                  Be careful coming to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, you might not ever wanna return back home again. Camping is available at Grape Creek RV Park and Campground, and a cool spot to check out is Copperstain Cliff. Macey Lakes is a nearby lake that you could check out, and Great Sand Dunes National Monument is one of the destinations that are fine to go to close by. Around Horn Lakes you don’t get a lot of rain; August is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is January.
