Good hiking is available along the McPhee Stock Trail, and get your pulse rate up on the wonderful whitewater of Dolores River. If you need a site to stay Dunton Hot Springs is a great choice. Lakes? Sure, Salter Bench Reservoir is close by. A tour to Hovenweep National Monument is recommended, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Hoppe Point Spring. For the duration of the warm months highs here at Hoppe Point Reservoir get into the 80's. All

| | through the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's; overnight lows in the 10's for Hoppe Point Reservoir.
There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Hoppe Point Reservoir. If you came for an overnight stay Mc Phee Mobile Home and RV Park is a brilliant site to camp, and Days Inn Cortez is a splendid spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. for example Little Dry Lake, and there's tremendous hiking along the Ormiston Point Stock Driveway.
This lake is so wonderful. Cozy Comfort RV Park and Mountain Retreat is a wonderful campground nearby, and the Stoner Stock Trail
offers hiking at its best. Hoppe Point Reservoir gets very little rainfall; throughout October this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is June.

We stayed in this campground mid-July 2006. Very efficient, friendly park. Adequate power, water, and sewage hookups. Rates were reasonable; and the manager did indicate that longer stays were discounted. Nice fenced dog run for our puppies to enjoy. The microbrewery in town has a wide selection of locally made beverages. I would gladly stop at La Mesa RV Park again.... |
Puett Reservoir

A.M. Puett Reservoir was originally constructed in 1905, and then reconstructed in 1960. It contains 163 surface acres when full and is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and open for public fishing from the bank and from trolling motor powered boats. No swimming is allowed. The lake is on private land and access is limited to 3 feet above the high water line.... |

Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.... |
