A wonderful place to camp here at Hilkey Pond is Smokehouse Campground; there is a delightful hiking trail close by called the Roubideau Trail. So much entertaining stuff to do in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains, not sufficient
time. Near Hilkey Pond you discover the Cottonwood Trail which is a splendid hiking trail, and there's whitewater on San Miguel River for all you thrill seekers.
