The Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains is unbeatable! If you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on San Miguel River, and don't leave Hilkey Pond without first going for a hike along the Roubideau Trail. Antone Spring Campground is a tremendous local campground, and dry warm beds await you at Rodeway Inn Delta. For the duration of the warm days of summer highs here at Hilkey Pond get into       the 90's. All through the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 30's; through the dark hours in the winter at Hilkey Pond temperatures sink to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Hilkey Pond is a glorious spot to visit for more than one day, Smokehouse Campground is a glorious spot to camp nearby; there are other locations here than Hilkey Pond, for example Monument Lake. There are plenty of folks from Montrose                  here at Hilkey Pond, and Grassy Lake is a delightful lake nearby. You simply ought to have a thing about Hilkey Pond. Whitewater paddling is great on San Miguel River, and pleasant hiking is available along the Cottonwood Trail. At Hilkey Pond you don’t see much precipitation; most of the rain falls during October, and June meanwhile is the driest month.
